You'll See

Jasper Speaks:

So, I am SO bad about presents. I have the hardest time NOT telling people what I got them. This is why I have to do most of my shopping the week before Christmas. I suck at keeping presents a secret. I haven't slipped this season yet but I have gotten close.

So Kendra ALREADY lost the cool earrings. Grrrr.
I am in the middle of nowhere. I mean seriously. If nowhere has a center point, Brrokfield, Missouri is definitely it! My wife's family is obsessed with playing cards. This is an obsession I do not share. It makes Kendra sad but my parents are OLD SOUTHERN BAPTISTS and though they are better now, when I was a kid my mom would actually say, "I'd rather have a bottle of whiskey in my house than a deck of cards". Seriously. Unfortunately we never had either. If we had whiskey bad holidays may have at least been more interesting. They are not like that anymore but cards were pretty controversial in my house during the formative years. So, Bridge is not my idea of a good time. Again, it makes Kendra sad but she is playing a marathon tourney with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Tonight is the family Christmas time. I am looking forward to seeing in laws. This is an oddity for me. Never had a lot of affinity for inlaws. I really like my brother-in-law Tim. I wish we lived close to each other because I am sure we could be REALLY good friends if we did. My niece Kristen cracks me up. I am looking forward to seeing her tonight. She makes the yuletide bright! Actually all my nieces and nephews on both sides are awesome. But Kristen is SO funny! I like funny! I am so going back to the gym after this week. I am sick of feeling bad and eating crap. Not actual crap, just bad foods. I wish Santa would bring cash. If I knew he would give me enough to pay off my student loan debt, I would be REALLY, REALLY good all year! Homemade candy is the devil. Is it sad that I am looking forward to the daily Wal-mart trip for excitement? Birthday of the King is by far my favorite Christmas carol. Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne rocks too. It is odd to use the word Thou and rocks in the same sentence. So, really, God coming to earth. That is a pretty cool thing to celebrate!

Christmas Bells Are Ringing

Jasper Speaks:

So, all of my shopping is done for now. I say for now because we still need to get a gift for my mom but we aren't doing Christmas with them until NEXT Saturday so we have some time. Did a mad dash today to the mall. I hate the mall. I hate to shop without purpose. Kendra never reads this so I can safely tell you that I got a HUGE MOMENTOUS deal on a purse for her. I mean really, the deal of the century. I wrapped gifts today. Maybe the one thing I hate more than going to the mall is wrapping gifts. What's the point? you are just going to unwrap them anyway. Then I went to go see Deja Vu with my friends the Wardens. It was very good. It kept me guessing. I only figured it out like three minutes before they showed it to us. Plus, Jim Caviezel was in it and basically he could come on screen, burp and leave and the performance would be oscar worthy. Good times, great flick! It was also very nice to spend time with them. They are my "other" family. I am so their eldest child and they are a lot like parents to me. I love them and my three younger siblings! Then we picked up Kendra and had yummy Chinese food for dinner. I did buy Kendra the light up Christmas tree ornament earrings she kept going on and on about on Sunday. Lynn Utley steered me to Claire's and they were 50% off. I gave them to her tonight so she would be able to use them this weekend when we go to her mom's for Christmas festivities. They kinda look like this:
We ended the night at my mom and dad's dropping off presents for my nieces and nephews before we go out of town tomorrow. Kendra (who actually is the EXACT opposite of me and has a mean PASSION for gift wrapping) wrapped gifts for my mom and then we took my niece, Clora, home so my dad wouldn't have to go out in the fog. That could be scary. He doesn't do so well in daylight even. It was nice to see Clora and talk about her first semester in college. She is in college. Dang! I am ancient! We head out tomorrow for the middle of nowhere. Should be relaxing. Jeff Wells is a really good friend.

Out Tonight

Jasper Speaks:

So tonight was the youth group Christmas party. I had a good time. I won brownie mix but it got stolen! I had to say goodbye to Sara because she will leave before I am back at church again. This makes Jasper very sad!
But she did say I could beat up Jeff G. for her (in order to keep him in line) from time to time. Sweet. No more school! LALALALALALA! Okay, so it is only for two weeks but I am rejoicing! Love Shola's homemade donuts. Love them too much. Jeff Wells singing iPod idol. Yeah, I tried not to laugh! He actually has a better voice than he thinks. Really. Saw Pursuit of Happyness today with Victor and Jeff. Nice flick. Clean. Sappy. Good time. Foot still hurts. That sucks. Just a wee bit more Christmas shopping and I am done.

Talked to Nate and Angela Milkins last night. They are some of the best people in my world and I miss them dearly!

Did I mention school is out!?!

I got to flunk a couple of kids who REALLY deserve it! Welcome to summer school! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

Contact

Jasper Speaks:

I had an accident on my way to school this morning. Four car pile up right in the depressed section of highway 70. It is aptly titled I must admit. I am fine but the van will need some work. Bummer. Money stinks. We have insurance and will only have a $250 deductible but still that is $250 that will make a major difference to us. I was able to get to school (the van is drivable) and two more finals are out of the way. The van cannot be driven a lot so we will be car pooling. The auto body shop can't fix it until January 2nd. So I will be doing light traveling in the hooptie in the meantime. Just having a stinky day. Glad the crash didn't look like this:

Doesn't help with the whole feeling BLUE thing, either. Merry stinkin' Christmas.

One Song Glory

Jasper Speaks:

I thought the Christmas musical was very nice yesterday. I found it easy to worship as I sang along and listened. I like the type of special services where worship is very apparent. My favorite song in the whole thing has always been Jesus Our Treasure. I thought the choir did a great job on it yesterday.

Today, I am at school with little to do as it is finals week. It is a B-day for finals so I today I have my planning period (right now) followed by my advocate class. No finals to give or grade. It would be great if I had the scantrons for grading to bubble but alas (my word), I do not. I do work for Riverview after all and a little preparedness is too much to expect.

Hope you all have a great day!
