Jasper Speaks:

Thought this was cool:

titledvd
FACING THE GIANTS hit stores and online retailers last week, and from initial reports, it is proving to be a big winner on DVD! For more than a week, it has been among the top 20 DVDs at Amazon.com, a list that includes television programs and specials. Reports from major retailers indicate that the DVD is just as popular in stores. In addition, local DVD rental stores reported that this was one of their best renting movies last weekend.

When it comes to Christian retail, FACING THE GIANTS is the biggest first-week theatrical DVD to hit stores since The Passion of the Christ in 2004. Reports from Christian retail chains indicate the need for a large number of re-orders to keep up with demand. Talk about an overwhelming response. Thank you for your incredible support!

I am glad it is doing so well. Last night Victor, Kendra and I went to see Tracy in the hospital. It was nice. It was a bit odd that we were watching Gray's Anatomy while in a hospital. A hospital show in a hospital. Was someone watching us too? There ARE cameras in the elevators.

Tonight we are having a birthday dinner with Bob and Julie. It is Bob's birthday. For you who don't know him, he was a roommate of mine in college and we go to church together at Parkway now. They are getting ready to move to Illinois for Bob's work and although they will be just across the river, there probably won't be as much of an opportunity to get together soon. So, in some ways this is a last hoo-rah!

Tomorrow we are going to Columbia to have lunch with my mother-in-law. She has Christmas presents for us from Kendra's favorite Aunt. Christmas in February can be good! Also, our niece Kim just had her third baby and is in the hospital in Columbia. If she doesn't go home today we will stop by and see she and the baby for awhile as well.

Nothing new with my Aunt. She is hanging in there. If something happens and the funeral is Monday I am pretty sure Darla and I will not go. It is supposed to get REALLY bad weather wise here and could be dangerous. It may even be another SNOW DAY! ARGH! Is this winter ever going to end? They are calling for accumulating snow and MORE ICE! YIKES! Sick of this I am!

Dare 2 Share is this weekend. We have just had so much going on (and as you can tell we still do) that we decided this was an event we would sit out on. It should be great and I am excited for those of you who get to go!

Last night, Tracy asked us to bring her Diet Mountain Dew and Cheetos. We also did a sock puppet show for her. She laughed. That is good. So, I have to go get some work done! I'm out of here!

Will I?

Jasper Speaks:

So, today at school was not the best. My B-4 class can be quite the challenge. I am trying to remain joyful and think about the blessing my job is to me. Still, it is difficult when I am not doing what I am passionate about.

anyway, I will be going to Kentucky in the next few days most likely. My Aunt Lou is close to the end. My mom and dad went down yesterday and yes, dad got pulled over by a cop for "questionable" driving. I was really hoping I could take them so he wouldn't have to drive all the way but they need to go early because my aunt was callling for dad. I hear they had a long visit last night. That is good.

Reality Check was great last night! All of you who participated in the worship experience should be very proud of yourselves. God did work through you. You have proven that you are more than capable of running EVERY aspect of the evening. I was so impressed by your hard work and you guys sounded GREAT. A big shout out must go to the tech team who did an OUTSTANDING job as well! Keep it up. We hope to see A LOT more out of all of you! You are an inspiration on a tough day! I love all of you guys!

Another Day

Jasper Speaks:

So, I went back to the gym last night. It was like the first time in over a week. It is amazing that my key card still worked.

School today is so far so good. There has only been one class. Now I am on my break. I have a lot of grading to do but ... here I am instead.

Looking forward to Reality Check tonight. I am uber excited that the students are leading in worship through music tonight. I personally think the students God has given to us in this area ROCK and it will be great to see God use them tonight.

I have been thinking a lot today about how God uses those who are willing. I am reading through the Old Testament and I am struck by how people simply had to be willing to be used and God did AMAZING things. I have to believe that this phenomenon was not just for ancient times. I have to believe that God is still seeking to use willing men and women to do amazing things for Him today. I fear that I may limit God a bit in my own walk. Am I really willing to do whatever he asks? Sometimes I try to slide by and do what he wants but complain about it all the way. I don't think that is the type of sacrifice He is asking for me to make. I want to do AMAZING things. Just think how incredible things would be in this world if every Christian we know would just totally have a willing heart to do whatever God wanted us to do. Even when it hurts. I have a quote from "My Utmost For His Highest" on my desk here at school. It says something to the effect of, "If by breaking your heart God is able to accomplish His purpose in the world, thank God for your broken heart." I try to remember that in my complaining days. It is deep. It helps me to remember that ALL that happens in my life is about God and not me. I am only a vessel. He is the One for whom I should be doing all that I do. If I live in this manner of willingness God will do AMAZING things.

Have an AMAZING day.

La Vie Boheme!

Jasper Speaks:

So, Small Group was pretty great last night. I had a really good time. I can't wait to see all that God will do over the next few months. It was exciting. Prayer requests that included a donkey story --- that is so a first! Jeff G. was there too and that was tight!

It has been a really good few days. In the midst of a lot of tragedy all around us, God has been good. We have had some awesome friend times and church stuff has been really rewarding. Then I am still beaming over the band doing so well in Ohio. I even had a good day at school yesterday. It is amazing how a different combination of kids can change the whole feel of a class. Oddly, even the sub freezing temperatures, MORE STINKIN' SNOW, and being a half an hour late for school this morning haven't even been able to pull me down. I like being in a good mood for a change.

On a more depressing note, one of my cousins passed away Sunday night. His mother (my Aunt Betty) has lost three husbands and both her children in her lifetime. A fourth husband was sent to prison. She is an incredible person. She just keeps persevering and trusting God. Absolutely amazing. Also, my favorite Aunt (Lou) on my dad's side is in ICU and is not expected to make it very much longer. That will entail a trip to Kentucky with the folks for the funeral. Not a fun excuse for a road trip.

Still, God is good all the time. I am expecting to grow, investing in significant relationships,.and trying to value life over just existing. It is all about trying to have a well lived life. It can be an amazing road with lots of twists and turns all around us but it is INCREDIBLE to know God is in control of the pathway. He delights in watching our response to all that happens. I pray today, that I am responding well. I pray that you are too.

What You Own

Jasper Speaks:

So, it was a really good youth group kind of weekend. I loved watching Facing The Giants with everyone. Again, what an AWESOME movie. The Super Bowl party rocked as well. It was so much fun just hanging out together. I loved it!

I am really excited about small groups starting tonight. It is going to be incredible! Can't wait!

It is still SO COLD here! I HATE WINTER! I am so excited that spring is on it's way! Only 29 days until Spring Break!

I am also super excited that the Twisted Thorns (the band that came as a result of our worship team at HCBC Youth Group) just won the battle of the bands in Ohio. Now they get to go to Nashville and compete for a recording contract with Provident Records! I am so proud and can't wait to quit my job and go on the road as the tour pastor! Woo-hoo! Great job guys! God is good!

Well I need to get stuff ready for the rest of the school day! Peace out!
