How Can you Generate Heat When You Can't Feel Your Feet And They're Turning Blue?

Jasper Speaks:

Okay, cold weather rant for the day. Last night I was returning from Junior High Small Group in my van. It was 9 degrees or so outside. My van's heat is minimal at best. The 25 minute drive home was full of teeth chatter and frustrated cold grunts. Thank goodness for my Rams hoodie because I think my ears might have fallen off without it! I could barely feel my feet by the time I got home. I was so cold my muscles were literally cold. YIKES!

Last night I was helping Victor with the Junior High Guys Small Group. We only had the two boys who live in the host home. They were a little disappointed that there weren't more guys there. Still, we had a good time of fellowship and discussion. I am not going to be there every week but it was nice to be there for the first one.

Tonight it is supposed to snow --- AGAIN! I have to help a friend move tomorrow but it doesn't sound like it will take very long. We have plans with Jessi and Jesse sometime tomorrow. That should be fun.

Well, I really have A LOT of grading to get done and should be getting to it since I only have fifty minutes left to my planning period. I did get a lot accomplished yesterday. All my lesson plans are in through the last day of March and I even got a lot of copying done for those lesson plans. That is a bit of a weight off. Hope you all are having good days!

I know You --- You're Shivering

Jasper Speaks:

So I have gotten some "get over it I live in the snow and cold center of the universe" e-mails. But I will probably keep complaining. EIGHT DEGREES! EIGHT DEGREES? I WANT SPRING! Anyway, now that is off my chest ...

The infinite wisdom that is my school district had us risk life and limb by coming to school on Tuesday and then yesterday when the roads were clear, we had a snow day. Most of the time snow days are good but now we are COMPLETELY at the point that we will have to make all of them up so I do not find them as fun. At all. However, I find great joy in knowing Maine is having a blizzard. HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, that feels good.

Reality Check went well last night. The praise team just gets better and better. I am excited for small group on Monday. My guys rock. I am visiting the Junior High boys group tonight. Victor needs another adult as Jake's parents will be out tonight. I am sure it will be cold.

My parents made it back from Kentucky fine. God is good.

I actually got planning done during my planning hour this morning. That is pretty exciting.

I have been trying to be more thankful for my job. You can pray about that for me. Even if it is not what I want to be when I grow up, it pays my bills and I am working in an area that I am degreed in and still working with teens. All that is pretty good of God.

Well I am off to enlighten young minds! Peace out from the snow and cold!

Snow Sucks

Jasper Speaks:

So, here I am at the ONE school district that is open today watching snow fall heavily and thinking about my 26 mile drive home today. The district has made some dumb calls on snow days this year and this is how we get to pay for it. Kendra is over my complaining about it so I have to vent here. I mean in the end I appreciate being here today so that I won't have to make up the day later but really, it is supposed to be a HUGE storm and here I am. Waiting. Isn't a valid snow day one of the reasons to stay in education? Anyway, nothing I can do about it now but pray for safety on the way home. I love Oakville but days like this make me wish we lived in Florissant or somewhere!

As you might expect there are not a lot of students braving the elements and being here today. Also, several teachers decided to take the day off as well. When I got here this morning, it was a ghosttown. Almost creepy.

It stinks that we canceled small groups last night and then the weather held off. Next week it will rock! I just wish this week would have been able to meet. I missed it.

Anyway, if Betsy really brought this she so needs to go back! LOL! Maine should stay in Maine! I am SO tired of snow! I am so tired of cold! I know that I am in Missouri and there is an end in sight but I am LONGING for April!

Again, global warming my big white butt!

What You Own

Jasper Speaks:

So, the weekend went really well. Our time out with Bob and Julie was very nice. It was just dinner at TGIFriday's (on a Friday no less) and spades at their place. Bob is like the worst card player in the world. We always play guys against the girls and we ALWAYS lose. Still, it was fun and just a great time to be together.

Columbia was very nice. It was good to see Kendra's mom and her sister Lorrie. We got to see Kim and the baby, Gabrielle. The baby is BEAU-tiful! We had lunch at Red Lobster (where I haven't been in a couple of years) and bought some new shoes at Kohl's.

On the way home we got the phone call that my Aunt had died. It is sad. I wish I could have been there for my mom and dad. They are getting up there in age and I often worry about them. It is hard to see your parents grow old.

Next. we headed home and got Betsy. She came back to our house where we had dinner and she helped us scrapbook a few pages. Michele and Dennis got us these two neat scrapbook kits for Christmas. One is a vacation "cheat" scrapbook thing and the other is the same but for vacation. They are small books (our first attempt into those) but come with suggestions and papers and stickers and stuff. We started working on the vacation one and I FINALLY finished the one I was making from the night we went to Rick and Candy's for Isaiah's birthday.

Then on Sunday we went to church. We dropped Betsy off at school and then got a much needed day alone. We had lunch and a nap and got up to scrap some more. We got quite a few pages done from our vacation this past year. We still have a few pages to go. It will be nice when the book is done.

Yeah, I know it is not the most manly thing to scrapbook but I enjoy it. It is a great way to spend time with Kendra and talk are relive some memories. That is the best part. She is WAY better at it than I am. I always tell her my pages look the same as any third grader doing them with their mom. Still, I try and it is fun.

So, the impending snow is keeping me from the trip to Kentucky. It is okay right now but is supposed to get bad tonight. It is supposed to start raining this afternoon and then it will turn over to ice and snow and stuff. YUCK! I really wanted to go but it just isn't the best weather for traveling. I am praying my parents will be safe as they return.

We had left our van at Westport this weekend and when we got there today it was locked in the parking lot. Not a good thing. They had roped off the section where the van was and it was padlocked in there. There was one other car there too. No note. No signs. Just a chain up where we could not get the van out. VERY ODD. So, Kendra is looking into why and trying to get it out today. It is VERY frustrating. I am praying this is not the way the rest of my day will go.

It is a half day today with students. We have professional development (AKA totally USELESS time wasted) this afternoon. Then I think I need to cancel small group tonight. It may be fine weather at 6:00 but by 8:30 when we leave it may be a lot worse. Better safe than sorry. Although it stinks because this is only week TWO.
