The Wait Continues

Jasper Speaks:

One of the constants in adoption is waiting. You hurry up and wait for many things. At this moment we are waiting for our completed home study. We have an awesome social worker putting our home study. Children's Hope International has been great to work with. Because we are working with an adoption agency outside our home state, it was a blessing to have CHI to help us. Our study is complete down to the minor proof reading adjustments. We should get it back sometime next week.

This is important because we need the completed home study to begin apply for adoption grants. The other night we found this great resource from It has a multitude of Excel spreadsheets that will help us not only organize things but help us easily find and apply for grants. One of the spreadsheets showed us that the total cost of our adoption may exceed $35,000. YIKES!

In the midst of the waiting we are still selling t-shirts. This will be over on February 4. I am sure people will be glad not to have our requests fill their feed anymore. We have over 30 sold but that is still far from our goal of 100.

God has been incredibly faithful and every time we have a certain amount of money due, we have it. We are praying that He will see fit for us to receive enough grants that our remaining fund raising will be minimal. You get to the point in the process that you feel like you are being a leech on your friends. So many have already given so much. We are very grateful but we understand that eventually people will be tapped out as resources. We don't want to become annoying to our friends and family.

So, we wait. We know the home study will be final soon. We know God has perfect timing. We know He is growing us in faith as we wait.
